Week 5 Assignment Interview Essay

Week 5 Assignment Interview Essay

Q Instructions For this assignment you are required to sit down for a conversation with someone whose religious identity differs from your own (this means that if you identify as Christian, for example, you should find a conversation partner who does not identify as such). The purpose of this exercise is for you to engage with someone else in a conversation about religion. That means that you will not only ask questions, but you will hopefully answer questions about your own beliefs, as well. Please note atheist and agnostic are not acceptable choices for your assignment as neither is recognized as a religion.

For this interview I contacted my good friend who is a follower of Hinduism. To be honest, Hinduism is a religion which has always fascinated for its sheet size. I have read many books on religion where it is stated that Hinduism is not a religion but a way of life. So, I called up Rakesh, my friend who is originally from India. He agreed to help me with this assignment and also was ready to provide answers (as much possible) to his queries. Hinduism is the third largest religion in the world and about 15-16% of the total population of the globe is the follower of this religion. Although debatable, it is also said that Hinduism is the oldest religion in the world, dating back 4000 years. In preparation for the interview, I had prepared a questionnaire containing all my queries about Hinduism and its practices. Before summarizing the content of the interview, I would like to thank Rakesh for sharing his time and knowledge about Hinduism. In the course of the interview, I learnt a lot about the religion which opened my eyes and allowed me to study more about it.
